Indigenous Monitoring and Training
The Subcommittee engages Indigenous peoples in oversight and builds training opportunities for impacted Nations.
The Indigenous Monitoring and Training Subcommittee supports the committee’s priorities as they relate to the Indigenous Monitoring Program and supporting opportunities to build training and capacity for impacted Indigenous Nations. The Indigenous Monitoring Program ensures that Indigenous peoples are involved in the monitoring of environmental, safety, and culturally sensitive aspects related to Line 3 activities over its lifecycle, with meaningful and adequate consideration of traditional land use, sacred sites, historical knowledge, and the diversity of Indigenous traditional and cultural worldviews. The Line 3 IAMC is also focused on creating opportunities to help build training and capacity for impacted Indigenous Nations to become involved in greater regulatory oversight and coordinating training opportunities.
