Purpose
Join us as we work to advance a national movement towards Indigenous Regulatory Participation, centered on the question: Who better to decide the future of land, air, species, and resources than the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit who have stewarded these lands for generations?
Background
The Line 3 IAMC created the first ever Indigenous monitoring program which has since worked alongside the Canada Energy Regulator.
New Focus
Our focus is shifting to a longer-term goal: contribute to transforming regulatory systems to secure First Nations and Métis Nation regulatory authority.
Role of the Line 3 IAMC
- Support and amplify the voices of Rights Holding Nations, not to hold rights ourselves.
- Collaborate to champion community needs while safeguarding autonomy.
Key Topics
- Share the achievements, struggles and learnings on our journey so far.
- Share insights on the proposed updates to the Terms of Reference for the Line 3 IAMC.
- Gather feedback from Rights Holding Nations to shape the direction of our work.
Your participation is vital in shaping a regulatory future where First Nations & Métis decisions are made, honored and respected when it comes to land, air, species and resources.
“We have described for you a mountain. We have shown you the way to the top.
We call on you to do the climbing.” – Murray Sinclair
Territory Acknowledgement
We respectfully acknowledge that Stoney Nakoda Resort and Casino is located on the traditional territory of the Îyârhe (Stoney) Nakoda Nations—comprising the Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Goodstoney First Nations.
This land is part of Treaty 7, signed in 1877, and is also home to other Treaty 7 signatories, including the Tsuut’ina Nation and the Blackfoot Confederacy—Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani Nations—as well as Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3.
We honour and recognize the deep historical and cultural connection the Stoney Nakoda people have to this land, and we are committed to working together in the spirit of respect, partnership, and reconciliation.
