Biography

Ross D. Pratt is an accomplished Indigenous professional and community leader from Saskatchewan with extensive experience in emergency management, community safety, logistics, and Indigenous governance, integrating traditional knowledge into modern monitoring and decision-making processes.

Ross is currently serving his second term as a National Member with the Canadian Red Cross, contributing to national governance, Indigenous engagement, and strategic leadership on emergency management initiatives. Over his Red Cross career, he has held numerous operational and leadership roles, including Personal Disaster Assistance (PDA) Responder, Emergency Response Team (ERT) Member, Shelter/Warehouse/Branch (SWB) Support, EMIS Subject Matter Expert (SME), Supervisor, Team Lead, Site Manager, Indigenous Advisor, Logistics Lead, and Mission Control. He is also trained and certified in HAZMAT Operations, PPE, and Mission Control safety protocols that enhance response readiness and operational efficiency.

Beyond the Red Cross, Ross has served as Head of Security and Manager with Piapot First Nation and Emergency Management Coordinator with George Gordon First Nation. His work includes Indigenous evacuation planning, residential-school research coordination, emergency operations, and community capacity-building initiatives across Saskatchewan — all grounded in cultural safety, resiliency, and reconciliation.

Ross also contributes extensively to community leadership as Past Chair/President of the North Central Community Association, Vice-President of Communications for the Raven Consortium, and Board Member with Golf Saskatchewan. He is also the Founder of Nisayé Advocacy Inc., supporting mentorship and life-skills development for Indigenous men and youth.

He holds a Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Regina, a Project Management Certificate from Priority Management Inc., and a SANE entrepreneurship credential from the University of Glamorgan. His leadership reflects a lifelong commitment to empowering Indigenous communities, strengthening emergency management systems, and advancing reconciliation across Canada.

As Emergency Management Program Coordinator with the Line 3 IAMC, Ross plays a key role in strengthening collaboration between Indigenous communities, regulators, and industry to ensure safe, transparent, and culturally respectful oversight of pipeline operations.
