DESCRIPTION:To Share Knowledge And Strengthen Our Connection To The Land\nAugust 20 – 21\, 2026\nAssiniboia Downs | Winnipeg\, MB\n\nLand-Based Gathering Led By\nPeguis First Nation Consultation & Special Projects\nSupported by Line 3 IAMC\nThis Land-based Gathering is an opportunity to learn more about Indigenous Traditional Arts\, Indigenous History of our territory\, the plants and animals we share the land with. Every season provides new and interesting changes on the land and follows the seasonal cycles in a comprehensive year-round schedule. \nThis training will include collaborating directly with local elders and cultural teachers to facilitate the programs. Our goal is to support the local cultural knowledge being put into practice. \nThe Peguis Consultation Land Based Training Team has years of real-world experience living on the land hunting\, trapping\, and fishing. \nWho Should Attend?\nIndigenous Monitors and Land Managers/Assistants from Line 3 impacted Nations in Manitoba will be prioritized for registration. A waiting list will be available for other interested representatives from Line 3 impacted Nations who are interested in attending. \nPlease note: Priority will be given to Indigenous Monitors first\, and Land Managers/Assistants second in Manitoba. DESCRIPTION:Reawakening Our Connection to Elders\, Environment\, Land\, Culture\, and Water\nSeptember 8-10th\, 2026\nSundance Kananaskis(opens in new tab) within Treaty 7 Territory\n\nLand-Based Tipi & Trapper Tent Immersion Experience\nDelivered in partnership with Alberta Land-Based Education\nGrounded in Line 3 IAMC’s mission to advance Indigenous participation in natural resource regulation\, exercise inherent Indigenous jurisdiction\, drive economic reconciliation\, and build genuine trust in the regulatory system\, this camp is shaped to support Indigenous Monitors in a number of ways: \n\nIndigenous Monitoring Program & Lifecycle Oversight: Strengthening the Indigenous Monitoring and Training Program by bringing regulatory frameworks right onto traditional territories\, ensuring deep respect for traditional land use\, sacred sites\, and historical knowledge.\nEmergency Preparedness & Response: Tying into the IAMC Emergency Management Subcommittee’s goals\, attendees will be immersed in traditional survival skills\, food preservation\, and natural land indicators to support learning from Elders on the land and environment across our Nations and communities.\nTransformative Professional Development: Moving out of the office and onto the land helps build real\, lasting\, and collaborative relationships with Line 3 Indigenous Monitors.\n\nAt the Sundance Kananaskis camp\, attendees will learn side-by-side with respected Elders and Knowledge Keepers from First Nations\, Inuit\, and Métis backgrounds. Nestled right in the peaceful beauty of Treaty 7 territory along the Kananaskis River\, it is a place where our people have always gathered to share stories and connect. \nAttendees will spend two nights staying right in our Indigenous handmade tipis and comfortable trapper tents\, sharing meals around the fire\, and feeling the shared responsibility we all carry to protect the water\, the animals\, and the land we leave to our children. This is a safe\, welcoming space for learning where we celebrate the beauty of our culture\, our animals\, our medicines\, and the bright future of our younger generations. \nAlberta Land-Based Education\nAlberta Land-Based Education is a diverse circle of First Nations from several Nations\, Inuit\, Metis Land-Based Educators\, Knowledge Keepers\, and Elders. We carry the teachings\, stories\, and ways of living handed down through generations of our Inuit\, Stoney Nakoda\, Blackfoot\, Gwich’in\, Cree\, Dene\, and Inuvialuit ancestors.
