Coral deShield is a Director at Natural Resource Canada's Indigenous Partnerships Office-West (IPO-West). IPO-West undertakes ongoing engagement with First Nations in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba to address Indigenous communities' issues and priorities in areas such as environmental stewardship, marine and pipeline safety, and employment and business opportunities. Coral brings more than 20 years of experience in the field of environmental management. This includes her recent experience with Environment and Climate Change Canada where she led the review of environmental assessments, permitting procedures, negotiations within the BC Treaty process, and consultation processes related to wildlife protection. Coral also has experience with stewardship programs, having worked with the Fraser Salmon and Watersheds Program as well as with Canadian Wildlife Service’s Habitat Stewardship Program for Species at Risk, and the Aboriginal Funds for Species at Risk.
